"Is it possible to be a fully formed musician with the age of 23? It is, when at the age of 14 one could already show an impressive understanding of art, musical intuition and was already able to communicate it. I am talking about Rafael Gómez-Ruiz, (...)
He is young but mature (...).Last Monday in the Concerthall he gave us a lesson of how one should play chamber music. He played the Gustav Mahler's quartett with the strenght, charachter in its exact mesure, to make it understandable for the public. His career as concert pianist is brilliant (...).
I was able to listen to him a month ago in Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, where he played Rachmaninoffs 2nd piano concerto. In this occasion, his technical achievements were showed among other qualities. His passionate comprehension of the pieces shared with the orchestra members brought the intensity needed to play such a difficult piece.
We are pushed to follow his career with deep attention and interest, being him such a young promise of spanish piano scene."

"His wonderful virtuosity and sensibility... he chose very difficult and challenging works. Agility, strenght, ...adquired by means of a lot of years work, and a lot of practice, ... the public was in ecstasy, clapping with emotion after each piece".

His interpretation of Chopin was also overwhelming. I was able only a few times during my life to hear such a respectful and devote understanding of Chopins music. The Mazurkas opus 17 and also the Andante Spianato and Grand Polonaise Brillante were both a great musical and technical achievement. Regarding Chopin, he is a purist, he analyses the musical text until the smallest detail and is able to show it in his performance.

He shows Chopin's idiosyncrasy as if it were his own.He has an apollonian conception of art and music, which helps him to feel the poetry that comes from Chopins compositions. (...)

His execution, mesured and precise, with astonishing accuracy of Rachmaninoff Études-tableaux showed the light and darkness of these pieces, creating really impressing sound atmospheres. (...)"
